Terms & Conditions
DEFINITIONS
For the purpose of these terms and conditions the following words shall have the following meanings:
a. The term “company” shall mean Russell Haskins Heating & Plumbing Limited.
b. The term “customer” shall mean the person or organisation for whom the company agrees to carry out works and/or supply materials.
PROVISION OF SERVICES
The price quoted is open for acceptance within 30 days, providing the services commence within 90 days from the date of the quotation. If work commences after this time, the company will notify the customer of any price changes requiring a revised quotation and the reasons why.
The company will provide a written quote when requested. The quote will include the cost of installing or repairing central heating equipment or gas appliances as discussed with the customer and/or specified in the quote.
The time estimate provided for completion of installation is a best estimate and the company cannot accept liability for any costs, losses, or expenses incurred by the customer due to delays beyond its control.
Prices do not include the removal of dangerous waste materials, such as asbestos, discovered during the work.
Chemical treatment of central heating pipework may cause pre-existing leaks to appear. Any remedial work required will incur additional costs not covered by the original estimate or the company’s insurance.
Conversion of an open-vented heating system to a sealed type (e.g., unvented cylinders) may reveal pre-existing weaknesses in the system. The company is not responsible for any additional work required as a result.
Installation of unvented cylinders or similar appliances requires notification to local building authorities. This is the customer’s responsibility.
The customer must provide safe access to the property and inform the company of any known hazards. The company reserves the right to suspend work if the site is unsafe or access is restricted.
Any additional or unforeseen work discovered during installation will be quoted separately and will only proceed with customer approval.
All work will comply with Gas Safe, MCS, and relevant building regulations.
GUARANTEE
All work carried out by the company carries a 12-month guarantee, except servicing, maintenance, or repair work, which is guaranteed for 28 days.
The company cannot guarantee services, parts, or equipment if:
a. They are misused, treated negligently, or tampered with by someone else.
b. Materials supplied by the customer are used.
c. The company advises that further works are required.Warranty claims must be reported within the warranty period, and routine maintenance may be required to keep warranties valid.
PAYMENT
For services over £400, a deposit of up to 50% may be required prior to commencement.
Payments are due on completion of services. Overdue accounts are subject to statutory interest charges.
The company reserves the right to withdraw from the site if the contract payment schedule is not adhered to. Ownership of materials remains with the company until full payment is received. The company may recover materials if payment is not made.
For work at rented properties, the tenant must comply with these terms. If the landlord refuses to pay, the tenant will be liable to cover the costs and may reclaim from the landlord.
CANCELLATION POLICY
If the customer cancels an order:
a. Payments for orders or materials not yet commenced will be refunded.
b. Charges for services already commenced and materials used up to the time of cancellation are payable immediately.
LIABILITY
The company is not liable for indirect, consequential, or incidental losses, including loss of heating or water.
The company is not responsible for defects caused by third-party materials or manufacturers.
Delays caused by factors outside the company’s control (e.g., supplier issues, weather) are not the company’s responsibility.
FORCE MAJEURE
The company is not liable for delays or failure to perform due to circumstances beyond its control, including strikes, supplier shortages, extreme weather, or emergencies.
CUSTOMER RESPONSIBILITIES
Customers must provide safe access and any necessary permissions for work to proceed.
Customers must inform the company of any known hazards or existing conditions that may affect the work.
INSURANCE
The company maintains public liability and professional indemnity insurance. Proof can be provided on request.
GOVERNING LAW
These terms are governed by English law, and any disputes will be subject to the English courts.
ACCEPTANCE
Acceptance of our goods, services, or quotation constitutes automatic acceptance of these terms and conditions.
