An air source heat pump installed in a customer's property

Mitsubishi Air Source Heat Pump Installation in Ashtead

During a full refurbishment of a terraced home in Ashtead, we replaced the old gas boiler with a Mitsubishi Ecodan air source heat pump and 300L hot water cylinder, upgraded radiators, and installed underfloor heating. The new system provides consistent, energy-efficient heating and hot water throughout the property, reduces energy bills, and benefited from the £7,500 Boiler Upgrade Scheme.

The Challenge

When a homeowner in Ashtead began a full property refurbishment to their terraced property, one thing was clear: it was time to replace their old gas boiler with a modern, energy-efficient solution. They wanted to take advantage of the £7500 Boiler Upgrade Scheme (BUS) and install a renewable system that could provide reliable heating and hot water while being environmentally friendly. The new heating system needed to handle the demands of the entire property, from top-floor radiators and bathroom towel rails to underfloor heating on the ground floor.

Our Approach

After an initial consultation, we carried out a survey of the property and a full heat loss calculation to understand exactly what the home required. Taking into account the property’s B-rated EPC, we determined the perfect specification for the new system:

  • 8.5kW Mitsubishi Ecodan air source heat pump for efficient heating

  • Pre-plumbed 300L Mitsubishi Ecodan hot water cylinder installed in a convenient cupboard

  • Upgraded top-floor radiators and towel rails

  • Underfloor heating on the ground floor

Every component was carefully sized to deliver optimal heat output, reduce energy consumption, and integrate seamlessly with the refurbishment.

The Installation Process

After removing the old gas boiler, we installed the Mitsubishi Ecodan air source unit in a convenient location on the side of the property, keeping it discreet but accessible. Inside, we replaced the radiators and towel rails and fitted the underfloor heating system with all relevant components. The cylinder was positioned for easy access, and the entire system was tested to ensure peak performance.

The Outcome

The homeowner now enjoys:

  • Consistent heating and hot water throughout the home

  • A more efficient, environmentally friendly heating system

  • Reduced energy bills by over 15% thanks to the precise system design

  • Reduced installation costs thanks to the £7,500 Boiler Upgrade Scheme (BUS) grant, which was applied directly to the initial invoice

The result is a modern, reliable air source heat pump system that meets the homeowner’s needs and future-proofs the property.
